11/20/2009 Antonio Pierce, LB (NYG) Pierce is out indefinitely after an MRI exam surprisingly revealed a bulging disk in his neck.

Analysis: The 31-year-old Pierce originally sustained a burner when the Giants played Arizona on Oct. 25. He had very little discomfort until practice this week, when the club's medical staff scheduled the MRI exam. The Giants (5-4) host the Atlanta Flacons on Sunday. New York, coming off its bye week, has lost four straight games.
11/20/2009 Jerious Norwood, RB (Atl) Norwood is inactive for Atlanta on Sunday against the Giants.

Analysis: Norwood had missed Atlanta's last four games with a hip flexor.
11/20/2009 Marcus Stroud, DT (Buf) Stroud was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars because of a knee injury that has prevented him from practicing.

Analysis: This will hurt the Bills' run defense, and fantasy owners can take advantage by using Maurice Jones-Drew this week to gain some valuable points.
11/20/2009 Reggie Bush, RB (NO) A person familiar with the decision says Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay because of knee injuries. Both players are expected to be back at practice next week, said the person, who requested anonymity because the team's injury report had not been officially updated.

Analysis: Bush came out of the St. Louis game with swelling and soreness in his left knee, which was surgically repaired twice in a three-month span a year ago.
11/19/2009 Albert Haynesworth, DT (Was) Redskins coach Jim Zorn says Haynesworth remains a game-time decision for Sunday's contest at Dallas with a sprained left ankle.

Analysis: The coach says Haynesworth is "coming along'' and that the ankle's swelling is starting to go down, but his absence would be huge for the Redskins and give Dallas much more room to run.
11/19/2009 Jack Williams, CB (Det) The Lions placed Williams on injured reserve on Wednesday due to a knee injury.

Analysis: Williams was hurt in his only game for the Lions after playing for Denver
11/19/2009 Melvin Fowler, C (Det) The Lions signed Fowler on Wednesday.

Analysis: Fowler has started in 60 of 88 career games. He was released by Arizona Cardinals this year after starting 37 games the previous three seasons for Buffalo.
11/19/2009 Marquand Manuel, S (Det) The Detroit Lions put Manuel on injured reserve Wednesday because of a shoulder injury.

Analysis: Manuel made 35 tackles in nine games this season.
11/18/2009 Jyles Tucker, LB (SD) The Chargers have placed Tucker on the injured reserve list, meaning he's finished for the season.

Analysis: Tucker suffered an ankle injury in a win at the New York Giants two weeks ago. He appeared in seven games as a reserve and was inactive for two others. Tucker was given a five-year contract before the 2008 season despite having played in only six career regular-season games.
11/18/2009 Steve Heiden, TE (Cle) Heiden was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an ankle injury.

Analysis: Heiden injured his ankle in Monday night's loss to Baltimore. He had off-season knee surgery and had missed two games with a knee injury.
11/18/2009 Vince Young, QB (Ten) The 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year has posted a passer rating of 90.4 or better in three straight games for the first time in his short career, and he is running effectively.

Analysis: Coincidence or not, the Titans are showing signs of life after the 0-6 start prompted owner Bud Adams to insist that coach Jeff Fisher start the quarterback Adams had watched through high school and college in Texas.
11/18/2009 Bruce Gradkowski, QB (Oak) Gradkowski will get the starting nod Sunday against Cincinnati as the Raiders have had enough of former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell - for now.

Analysis: This will be just the second start for Gradkowski since 2006. He started one game last year in Cleveland and 11 games as a rookie for Tampa Bay in 2006. Gradkowski is 17 for 30 for 163 yards and two interceptions. It's unlikely that Gradkowski can do worse than Russell did, though there's certainly no reason to own him on your fantasy team.
11/18/2009 JaMarcus Russell, QB (Oak) The Oakland Raiders are benching Russell, handing the starting job to Bruce Gradkowski.

Analysis: Coach Tom Cable said after practice Wednesday that Gradkowski will get the nod Sunday against Cincinnati. Cable says the plan is for Gradkowski to start the rest of the season. Cable has pulled Russell, the former top overall draft pick, for ineffectiveness in two of the past three games. No Raiders quarterback should be considered as a viable fantasy option at this point.
11/18/2009 Brady Quinn, QB (Cle) Quinn has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for his chop block on Baltimore's Terrell Suggs, who is out for Sunday's game against the Colts.

Analysis: After throwing an interception in Monday night's 16-0 loss to the Ravens, Quinn dived at Suggs' knees while trying to bring down cornerback Chris Carr, who had picked him off. Suggs had to leave the game and could miss more time.
11/18/2009 Chris McAlister, CB (NO) The New Orleans Saints have signed McAlister.

Analysis: The 32-year-old former Ravens star has been elected to the Pro Bowl three times in his 10-year career but missed most of last season with a right knee injury and was released by Baltimore last February. Both Saints starting cornerbacks are nursing injuries. Jabari Greer has a groin pull and Tracy Porter a sprained left knee.
11/18/2009 Billy Cundiff, K (Bal) The Baltimore Ravens have signed Cundiff, who once enjoyed success with the Dallas Cowboys and was perfect in a brief stint with Cleveland this season.

Analysis: The 29-year-old Cundiff replaces an ineffective Steve Hauschka, who was cut Tuesday after missing a field goal and having an extra point blocked in Monday night's 16-0 win over the Browns. Cundiff has made 66 of 89 field-goal attempts. He kicked for the Cowboys from 2002-05 and was 6 for 6 on field goal tries with Cleveland as a replacement for the injured Phil Dawson.
11/18/2009 Jake Allen, WR (Cle) The Packers have released Allen.

Analysis: Allen spent the entire 2008 season and the first seven weeks of the 2009 season on the Packers' practice squad, and was signed to the team's roster after Brett Swain sustained a season-ending knee injury.
11/18/2009 Jordan Kent, WR (StL) The St. Louis Rams have signed Kent to replace Keenan Burton, the receiver lost for the season to a knee injury.

Analysis: Kent is 6-foot-4 and spent training camp with Seattle. He was waived on Sept. 5. He was a sixth-round draft pick of the Seahawks in 2007 and split time between the practice squad and active roster.
11/17/2009 Joshua Cribbs, WR (Cle) Cribbs is active for the Cleveland Browns against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, less than a week after he was strapped to a backboard and wheeled into an ambulance.

Analysis: Cribbs had said he expected to play despite a sore neck after Baltimore's Dawn Edwards hit his chin on Monday night. Cribbs' fearlessness has turned the undrafted free agent into a Pro Bowler and one of the NFL's best return specialists.
11/17/2009 Larry Johnson, RB (Cin) Johnson has agreed to terms with the Cincinnati Bengals to be one of their backups, giving the AFC North leaders depth at the position, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

Analysis: Johnson reached the contract agreement Tuesday, according to the person, speaking on condition of anonymity because the team had not made an announcement. The Bengals have to make a roster move to clear a spot for Johnson, who will be fourth on the depth chart at the outset.
